Mobilizing Sports Testing

Overview
Challenge
Create an easy-to-use platform to schedule drug testing events for athletes. It needed to promote timely location reporting and the ability to modify the contact or trip information for Program Managers to arrange and facilitate the test on-the-go.
Approach
The main goal was to optimize drug test scheduling and ultimately cause less missed tests. We decided to build an athlete whereabouts ecosystem branched in three components: a back-end database/dashboard, an accessible website, and a native iOS app. All three components were integrated under the same API. I was able to have full control of the direction and identity. I took care of the branding, user flow, and UI/UX.

Keeping it Kosher
Tools and resources in this type of field are often dull and out-dated. At first, it was tricky when brainstorming about the direction and how to approach the style and name for this project. Initially, I started experimenting with colorful and radiant palettes just to go out of the norm. Then, I began picturing athletes like LeBron James and people in the sports field using the platform and decided to use something more polished, and less "pop." I searched for some brands that gave me the feeling I was looking for and found two with a similar color palette in different fields. These were Tesla and ESPN. Inspired by their colors I decided to derive mine. When it came down to its name, I suggested to define the system as the athlete's virtual medical agent and proposed to call it MedAgent.
Product Design
An Ecosystem for All
With a name and brand in place, it was time to focus on the system experience and design. I began with the iOS app in order to start conceptualizing how pro athletes will interact with their virtual "medical agents." I felt that figuring out this phase first will be crucial to find the right direction for the look and behavior of the other two components.
Then, I followed with the dashboard component. Its main function is to view athletes' contact/trip information, generate client reports, and manage availability calendars.
Last but not least, an accessible website for users to log in and manage their account through the comprehensive dashboard. The website also serves as an anchor for visitors to learn more about the product, its features and how it works.
